Laser Periodontal Therapy
We take periodontal care seriously, knowing that gum disease is silent and dangerous. Without treatment, it leads to tooth damage, tooth loss or bone loss, requiring extensive repair. Since it’s relatively painless and unnoticeable in the early stages, we emphasize prevention education, monitor potential problems, chart meticulously, and employ the latest therapies.

What is it?
Laser periodontal therapy has proven to be an exceptional alternative to traditional surgical treatments. The laser beam can be precisely directed to only the tissues needing treatment, and the way it works virtually eliminates bleeding and sterilizes the area at the same time. All of this translates to higher quality treatment, improved outcome, and greater comfort for the patient. Currently, laser periodontal therapy is used to treat gum disease and for cosmetic gum re-contouring.
How it works
The laser will remove only the infected gum tissue lining the pocket wall. Any tartar is removed from the root surface. Then the laser disinfects the area, selectively killing all bacteria. The small, sterile wound is sealed to the root surface with a dense fibrin clot.
Why is it better?
With conventional methods not all bacteria can be eliminated so recurrence is a common problem. Laser therapy stops the infection and eradicates all bacteria leaving the gum pocket disease free. Tissue has time to heal and sometimes can even reattach to normal depth. As there is no need for incisions or stitches there is no bleeding or swelling. The patient endures little to no discomfort during the procedure and a very short recovery time.
Key benefits of laser therapy are:
- No incisions or stitches
- No bleeding or swelling
- Minimal to no pain
- No gum recession
- No tooth sensitivity
- Fewer appointments
